The zawiyas and Quranic schools in the Tuat region are among the most prominent and important scientific institutions in the dissemination of knowledge and preservation of manuscripts, given the fundamental roles they have played since their establishment by allocating a large part of their endowments to education in terms of support and provision, and by providing many manuscript and book collections that have served as a fundamental resource for both students and seekers of knowledge.
